Gene sequencing firm Nucliq Biologic and nutrition tracking startup Prospre won Memorial University’s Mel Woodward Cup pitch competition on Tuesday, beating out three other finalists.
Created in 2016, the Cup is the Memorial Centre for Entrepreneurship’s flagship event – held online this year because of COVID-19. The name honours fuel delivery and logistics magnate Melvin Woodward, who died in 2015.
Nucliq claimed the $25,000 first prize. Prospre placed second, winning $15,000. The prizes represent a change in structure from previous years, when the best three of eight companies won $10,000
