The debate has begun about whether too many Atlantic Canadian startups will be ineligible for the federal government’s wage-support program, and whether that could jeopardize the startup community.
A quick analysis of data collected by Entrevestor suggests that there are only a few truly distressed companies that will be ineligible for the federal support. About two-thirds of the region’s startups had revenue last year, and those with cash-flow issues should have help paying their staff.
It is early days, and not everything is known yet about the federal program first announced Friday.
